About the application
Smart Archive Extractor is a Windows desktop application designed to simplify batch extraction of ZIP, RAR, 7Z and other supported archive formats. Instead of opening files one at a time, select a source folder, choose where extracted files should go, and start the process. The application is especially useful when working with many archives or archives stored across subfolders.
Main features
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Batch extraction | Processes multiple supported archives in a single task. |
| Multiple archive formats | Recognizes ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, CAB and ISO archive files; extraction support depends on the installed 7-Zip engine. |
| Subfolder scanning | Optionally searches inside folders beneath the selected source directory. |
| Three output modes | Combines files into one flat folder, preserves internal folder paths, or creates a separate folder for each archive. |
| Password support | Tries archives without a password first, then attempts passwords entered by the user, one per line. |
| Duplicate-file protection | Renames conflicting output files rather than overwriting them. |
| Progress and results | Shows a progress bar, processed/successful/failed counts, and an activity log. |
| Extraction report | Writes a text report of processing results into the output folder. |
| Save and load tasks | Saves reusable folder and extraction preferences in a JSON task file. |
| Interface preferences | Offers Black, Blue and White themes, plus an option to open the output folder directly. |
How to use it
- Install and open. Run the Windows installer and launch Smart Archive Extractor. Ensure a working 7-Zip extraction engine is available.
- Select the source folder. Click Browse beside Source folder and choose the folder containing your archives. Leave Find archives inside subfolders checked to search deeper folders.
- Select the output folder. Choose a different folder where extracted files will be saved.
- Choose the organization method. Select a flat folder, preserved internal paths, or a separate folder for each archive (recommended).
- Add passwords if needed. Enable Show password options and enter one password per line.

- Review the results. Click Open output folder to inspect the extracted files and
extraction_report.txt.
Requirements
Windows desktop environment and access to the 7-Zip extraction engine. If the application reports that the engine is missing, install 7-Zip or provide the required engine files alongside the application as indicated by its message.
This is a locally installed Windows application, not an online browser-based extractor.
Beta release notes
Version 1.6 introduces a refreshed interface, numbered workflow sections, a collapsible password panel, clearer extraction statistics, and an Open output folder action.
This is a beta release for evaluation and feedback. Test with copies of important archives and verify extracted contents before relying on the results.
